A flavorful, creamy and lip-smacking delicious dish from the humble and economical purple eggplants, that kept me going back for more.
I have been so busy recently, with testing recipes and teaching cooking classes, that I find myself getting less excited about cooking at home. Where has my kitchen mojo disappeared to? I wondered if this happens to chefs as well.. Hence it has been very often quick and simple recipes for me. And one of my favourite new finds is this Korean Style Steamed Eggplants, a flavorful, creamy tender vegetable dish that makes me go back for more and more. Continue Reading →
To resume blogging after a hiatus is harder that I thought. With many ongoing projects and remembering to get enough down time, writing for the blog became less of a priority. I have postponed writing too many times that I have to schedule in daily mandatory ‘writing’ time. Since my last post, I’m getting much better than expected, with occasional fatigue in between days. By following the new routine I’ve shared in my previous post and a careful intake of food, I’m feeling more energised and alert by the day. If you have not noticed by now, there is only one whole cake recipe here. There are a handful of baking recipes but I try not to venture into cakes. I was all pumped up to make one for the year end celebration with my awesome new Tefal Kitchen Machine and having dreamt about blogging how easy the recipe was and how amazing the cake is. Easy weekday meal of teriyaki salmon, steamed bok choy and egg rice bowl.
Fish appears often on my weekly meal, mostly local fish like mackerel, sea bass, sardines and red snapper. About once a month, salmon is my treat as they are not cheap in this part of the world. Like most families of Chinese descent, I grew up eating fish dishes almost daily because of the belief that fish helps us become smarter -> better grades -> better jobs -> better life. Yes, Chinese are always being made fun of for only thinking about studying and making more money. I wouldn’t deny that for the majority of Chinese descendants. Continue Reading →
Easy hearty one-pot comfort meal packed with good-for-you multi-grains and enzyme-rich miso.
There’s something comforting about a bowl of piping hot porridge, even on hot days. On days when I’m under the weather, tired, or just do not feel like cooking, rice porridge is one of my go-to meal. Spinach porridge, chicken porridge, fish porridge or egg & pepper porridge. My current favourite is Multigrain Miso Porridge, which I’m loving for breakfast too. Continue Reading →
